The obituary of Iva Louise Placeway read: Iva Louise Placeway Hall was born in Hamburg Township Oct. 2, 1882 where she passed the early years of her life, attending the district school until she entered Pinckney High School from which she graduated with the class of 1900. Her exceptional cheery, capable, friendly disposition endured her to all who knew her and her dear friends of childhood remained her close friends through life. Her time and talents were at the disposal of her friends and she lived for her family and dear ones. After several years of successful teaching in the schools of the county she became the wife of Guy A. Hall on March 23, 1904 and a sympathetic living relationship of nearly 16 years of happily married life was suddenly terminated Feb 10, 1920 when she passed away in the family home in East Putnam at age 37 years, 4 months and 8 days. She early united with the Congregational Church and later attended the Federated Church of this place. Her parents, Mr. & Mrs. J. W. Placeway of whom she was the only daughter now resides in Howell. He only brother died in early childhood. She leaves a sorrowing husband and parents, one daughter, Velma, and six sons, Stanley, Stacey, James, Harlan, Ralph and Glenn Gale.
