The obituary of Gary L. Placeway read:

 Gary L. Placeway age 57, of Monticello, Indiana, formerly of Owosso.  On September 2, 2003, Gary went to be with his Lord after a brave battle with cancer.  Gary enjoyed his career in sales and was employed as General Sales Manager of A. O. Smith Electrical Products Company.  Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, September 5, 2003 at the First Church of the Nazarene, with Dr. Brian Delbridge officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.  Visitation at the church will be from 10 a.m. until time of service.  Visitation at Nelson-House Funeral Home will be Thursday 2 - 8 p.m. with the family present from 2-4 and 6-8. Gary was born November 25, 1945 in Woodbury, New Jersey, the son of Ernest LeRoy "Lee and Eugenia (Moorhead) Placeway.  He is a 1964 graduate of Owosso High School.  Gary served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Placeway attended Zion Bethel Church in Monticello, Indiana.  His recreational interest were the outdoors, boating, fishing, and golf.  Gary's outgoing "love of life" personality gave him many cherished

friendships.

 He is the loving husband of Cheryl (Sharp), married on July 19, 1969 in Owosso, Michigan.  A devoted father to Shane L. Placeway of Fenton, MO, and Tara A. (Steven) Nichols of Westfield, IN.  Other survivors include his mother, Eugenia Placeway; sister, Jana (John) Moore of Haslett, MI; niece, Brandie (Jamey) Tenny; great niece, Alexandra Tenny of Columbia, MO; special aunt, Sandra (Moorhead) Graves of Copemish, MI; daughter in-law to be, Kerry Krueger of Fenton, MO. He is preceded in death by his father, Ernest Leroy "Lee" Placeway and his grandparents, Joseph and Martha Moorhead and Cyrenius Rene and Alta Syllinda Placeway. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hope Lodge, which offers complimentary accommodations for cancer patients and their families.
