The obituary of Alta E. Case Placeway read: Mrs. Charles E. Placeway passed to her reward Thursday, April 26 at her home on Piety Hill after a long illness with heart trouble. She was born in this village 51 years ago last December. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ira W. Case, the former being one of the pioneer business men of Brighton. She was married 30 years ago to Charles E. Placeway, the founder and for 20 years the proprietor of the Brighton Argus. To them were born two daughters and one son, William C. and Mrs. Edgar Crout of Detroit and Gertrude at home. Funeral held from the home, Saturday, Rev. John Bettis officiating and remains placed in the vault in Calvary Cemetery. A patient, kind and loving wife and mother is now at rest. [Brighton Argus, April 27, 1910] Sources: |
